What to do during a long layover at Dallas Fort Worth with luggage

What to do during a long layover at Dallas Fort Worth with luggage?
I have an 8 hour layover in Dallas Fort Worth Airport next month. Because I will be flying in from an international location, and flying to another international location, I predict I'll have about 5 hours free. I've looked into renting a car, but for some reason on the day I'll be there, even the rates to rent an economy car, are at the very least $70 and on average $120. I've checked multiple sites already! This is regardless of whether I have it for one day or overnight. Also, because the airline I'm flying (British Airways) only has one flight from Dallas per day, I'll probably be lucky if the check in counter is open when I arrive in Dallas. Chances are I'll probably have to tote my suitcase around, unless I can find someplace to store it for a few hours. What would you recommend somebody toting their luggage with an 8 hour layover, and car rental prices being very high, do? Thanks all!

There should be some sort of shuttle bus you can take to the Grapevine Mills Mall (about 5 min away) that will be a lot cheaper than a rental car. You won't have too much of a problem killing 5 hours out there and it's a neat area. Otherwise, there are plenty of restaurants/bars to kill time eating and drinking (which is what I do...)

If you can store or check your luggage at the airport, catch the free shuttle over to the Sheraton or the Westin (both are Starwood Hotels). You can have a nice relaxing meal in the restaurant or a drink in the bar. Talk to people...then catch the shuttle back. An inexpensive venture away from the airport.

Ride the Trinity Railway Express to downtown Dallas or Fort Worth. (One way $1.50 - Day Pass $3.00) ***No Service on Sundays or holidays. http://www.trinityrailwayexpress.org/tre-ridebuy.html http://www.trinityrailwayexpress.org/newweekeb.html Enterprise Rental Cars are cheaper on mid-week days. ($37.58 USD per weekday)(You're probably going to be here on a weekend so the price will be higher) http://www.enterprise.com/car_rental/home.do;jsessionid=Kc8YlvGvmrrm7d6w7ncLQJR7NSvYf2JG4QYCTjFr1l0JWfhw5Tww!-1827822051 http://www.dfwairport.com/transport/public.php http://www.fun-things-texas.com/things-to-do-in-fort-worth-texas.html http://www.fun-things-texas.com/things-to-do-in-dallas-texas.html After 9/11 all luggage lockers at airports were shut down. ******Most of the time, unless you're flying out on a different airline than you flew in on, your luggage is transferred to the next airplane rather than having to pick it up. I suppose your question is based on the fact that you're using two different airlines? The only information I have been able to get on luggage storage is for hotel customers. Some Trinity Rail Express and DART Rail stations have bicycle lockers. I pasted the pertinent information from the website below. ********************* At most rail stations and transit centers, DART offers bike racks for short-term parking and bike lockers for long-term parking. Bike lockers offer greater security but require a $15 nonrefundable deposit, as well as a rental fee: • 3 months $15 • 6 months $25 • 1 year $45 ********************* http://www.dart.org/riding/bike.asp#rail This links shows which stations have bike lockers and how many. http://www.dart.org/maps/locationslist.asp ********************* In case you get stuck at the airport, the links below have some tips and ideas. http://www.expedia.com/daily/airports/dallas.asp http://elayover.com/index.html If you go to the Grapevine Mills Mall, they may have lockers where you can store your luggage. DFW airport has alot of nice restaurants and internet access with or without a computer..there is also a hotel in the airport and you don't have to rent a car to go there and enjoy there restaurant and bar..also if you do rent a car.. there are nice eating place on 114 which is on the outside of the north entrance of the airport. you can also go to grapevine mills mall which is very famous . if you rent a car you can leave your luggage in the car.. if you don't and you choose to stay in the airport you just chill in strabucks or eat at a restaurant.. there is no where to store your luggage. the prices of the car are high because you aren't a resident of the area and if you are not a U.S. citizen that also is a factor

Buy a one day pass to a lounge, you can leave your luggage there, eat, rest, watch t.v., relax. You really don't have enough time to explore outside the airport.
