Yes, specifically over the Gulf of Mexico. I don't recall just how long we were actually over water, partly because we were pretty much along the shore for well over an hour, whether over water near land or over land near water.

Yeah, you probably will fly over the Gulf of Mexico. I am guessing that you will spend probably 1 to 2 hrs over the plane because it normally takes 2 hr and 45 mins for the flight and there is still a piece of Texas and Louisana that you will fly over.

I took this flight once before. Yes it does go over the ocean. And it is not a big deal. I did this my first time ever flying. It's a relatively short flight.

Yes. You'll be over water (Gulf of Mexico) for at least an hour if not 90 minutes depending on the fligh plan. Done the flight many many times.

About 60 minutes overwater - If at night - you probably will not even see it - Will be from New Orleans to Ft.Myers for the overwater portion - Do not worry - pilots and flight attendants can swim - You do not need flotation equipment - Airlines generally provide some - Never actually been on the flight - always absent minded - Never did DFW to MIA - but I did LAX to MIA about 10 or 20 times -
