A flight leaves from Oakland to Dallas one morning on a 1200-mile flight

A flight leaves from Oakland to Dallas one morning on a 1200-mile flight?
On the way there, a tailwind helps them make their journey in only 2 hours. The return trip is made in stormy weather against a headwind three times as strong. If the return trip takes three hours, what is the speed of the wind during the flight from Dallas to Oakland

I aint gonna lie I am a smart guy but this is a hard question.

150 mph =] If x (the speed of the plane) plus y (the tailwind) times 2 (the time) is equal to 1200 (distance), then x + y = 600. Similarly, if 3 (x - 3y) = 1200, x - y = 400. Using simultaneous equations, we get that x = 550 and y = 50. Since the returning tailwind was 3x as strong, y = 3 (50) = 150 mph. Hope this helps!
