Is it possible to switch a flight destination and person flying?
A week ago, my boyfriend bought plane tickets for a trip from Florida to Dallas to visit me. Now it looks like he might not be able to go. I will still have that week off no matter what, so what I want to know is: would it be possible to change the flight to be from Dallas to Florida, and to put my name on the ticket, so I can visit him instead?

there will be change fees (of course) do not know if you can change the name on the ticket - ask the airline all the best

You need to find out the carrier and call their customer service. Typically the answer is NO, but some airlines have a change fee, if the ticket was booked through 3rd parties like hotwire, travelocity etc. then you cannot and you have to buy a new ticket. The carriers may provide a flight credit, to the original passenger or they may change the flight details at a surcharge normally $75 and up. Plus the difference in cost of flying from Florida to Dallas instead.

Most airlines do not allow a name change on tickets. In fact, it's possible none of them do. You may be able to cancel the flight, get a credit (minus considerable fees), then use the credit to buy a new ticket under a different name. Call the airline.

Most if not all airlines do not allow you to change the name on the ticket. Your boyfriend would have to cancel his ticket, possibly incur a penalty and instead receive a travel voucher to be used for a future flight. Then you would have to buy your ticket to go visit him.
