I may be moving to DC but I don't know when. It's going to be sudden and not planned. :>

www.travelocity.com. Are you moving alone? You may want to learn to be a bit more independent. The cost of your flight will depend on date, time and as you said, the amount of advance purchase. Consider flying to Baltimore (BWI) rather than Dulles or Natoinal since they have Southwest out of Dallas. You may be able to save quite a bit.
