how can i find a cheap flight from dallas to hampton or Norfolk, VA?

There isn't any dedicated, low-cost service on these routes, so you're at the whim of airline sales if you're hunting the best fare. When you search, try both DFW and DAL to ORF and PHF. Try to travel midweek days, include a Saturday night stay, and purchase at least 14 days in advance. You can sign up for fare alerts at Orbitz.com; when a sale a pops up, you'll be sent an email. In the next 30 days, cheapest currently is $235 roundtrip, taxes and fees included, on USAir with DFW and ORF, connecting at CLT each way. American Airlines offer the only nonstop connecting these markets; $247 currently. Best to book direct from the airline.
